Welcome to Korean Recipe Lab — real Korean recipes from a home kitchen in Seoul.
A lot of “Korean” recipes online are written by people who have never shopped at a Korean market or eaten these dishes at a family table. This blog is different. I was born and raised in Korea, and every recipe here is the version Koreans actually cook at home — with honest notes on what you can substitute when you’re shopping outside Korea.
What you’ll find here
- Main Dishes — bulgogi, fried chicken, bibimbap, and the dishes Korea is famous for
- Soups & Stews — kimchi jjigae, sundubu, doenjang jjigae, and everyday comfort in a pot
- Banchan — the small side dishes that turn rice into a Korean meal
- Street Food — tteokbokki, kimbap, hotteok, and market favorites made at home
- Desserts & Drinks — bingsu, dalgona, and sweet things Koreans grew up with
- Cooking Basics — pantry guides, broths, sauces, and techniques that make everything else easier
How I write recipes
Every recipe lists ingredients with both metric and US measurements, offers substitutions you can find in a regular Western grocery store, and explains the “why” behind each step so you can adapt with confidence. If a recipe didn’t work for you, tell me — I’d rather fix it than pretend it’s perfect.
Let’s cook Korean — the home-kitchen way.
